An enthusiastic speaker from San Francisco, California, came into the world sometime in 1956. However, the exact day and month in which he was born are not known. Born to black American parents, Rick Rigsby holds American citizenship. His father was a third-party dropout who worked as a cook for a living. According to Rick, his father greatly influenced him and taught him how to combine both knowledge and wisdom to make an impact. Although it is unknown whether he is the only child of his parents, Ricky did not share many details about his family.
As he was growing up, he completed his basic education in San Francisco. After graduation, Rick Rigsby enrolled at California State University, Chico, where he earned a degree in Mass Communication in 1978. Not long after graduating, he also earned a master’s degree in public communications from the same institution in 1987. He will later be an honorary alumnus of California State University in 2000. Ph.D. in Speech Relations from the University of Oregon.
Rick Rigsby Career
In the early stages of his career, Rick was made an assistant professor in Oregon. A job he did for the next two years. Prior to that, he had spent more than a decade as a reporter and TV host of CBS affiliate-KSHL-TV in Chico. Upon leaving the University of Oregon in 1992, he was hired at Texas A&M University, where he spent the next 14 years of his life as an assistant professor with speech communication skills. At Texas A&M University, Rick Rigsby served as a character coach for the school’s football team – Texas A&M Ages, as well as a leader on the school’s football team.
Due to his outstanding performance, Rick Rigsby was twice honored as a Distinguished Professor by the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University. After 14 years of a successful career as a college professor, Rick decided to leave the academic environment. After that, he founded his own company, Rick Rigsby Communications.
He and his family later moved to Dallas, where he began working as an enthusiastic speaker and corporate coach. He will start making speeches at various Christian colleges and public schools, as well as sports organizations like the PGA and NFL.
Rigsby gained widespread popularity in 2017 after delivering a stirring speech during the graduation ceremony of the California State Maritime Academy. The speech became white when it was posted on its YouTube channel, thus receiving more than 200 million views in the first few days. Since then, he has been working as CEO and president of Rick Rigsby Communications.
Rick Rigsby Wife and Married Life
The talented spirited speaker has married twice in his life and is also the doting father of four. He was first married to a woman named Trina Williams. Trina worked as a nurse at Feather River Hospital, California, and first met each other while in college. Soon after their graduation, the couple tied the knot and their union had two children. Sadly, Trina kicked the bucket in 1996 after a long battle with breast cancer.
After her death, Rick had a broken heart which led to a depression Rick Rigsby had been struggling with for almost two years. Through the love and affection of his friends and family, Ricky managed to get back on his feet. He later met Janet Butcher, whom he fell in love with and eventually married in 1996. After their union, Rick and his second wife welcomed two children.
