Product Description

Acclaimed as one of the most fearless innovators in the field of ceramics, Kate Malone brings to her work a maverick sensibility, outrageous sense of humor, formidable dexterity, and a penchant for exploring the boundaries between high and low culture. Kate Malone: A Book of Pots traces the evolution of her dynamic career, with 321 full-color photographs tracing the continuity of each dazzling creation to the next and at the same time displaying the full breadth and scope of Malone's renowned imagination and varied output. Malone also reveals the secrets to many of her innovations, detailing specific techniques, glazes, and tools used in her work.

"No other potter of her generation is both master and creative genius. Genius is not a term I use lightly...Dynamic and ebullient, the art is uplifting, at times amusing, to all who experience it." --Anne Carlano, Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe

Kate Malone is one of the most acclaimed ceramists of her time. She established Balls Pond Studio in London in 1986 and recently set up a second studio in Provence. Her work has been featured in many exhibitions worldwide.

Lesley Jackson is a freelance writer, curator, and design historian. Her books include The New Look: Design in the Fifties and 20th Century Pattern Glass. A member of the editorial board of Crafts magazine, she writes widely for newspapers and magazines.
