Product Description

Hedwig and the Angry Inch, "the best rock musical ever" (Rolling Stone) follows the journey of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, victim of a botched sex-change operation, as dazzlingly recounted by Hedwig (née Hansel) herself in the form of a lounge act, backed by the rockbound The Angry Inch, and transported to the Belasco Theatre "for one night only" and taking over the set for Hurt Locker: The Musical. This edition contains the updated book and lyrics from the smash Broadway production starring Neil Patrick Harris of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's landmark American musical.

Praise for Hedwig and the Angry Inch:

"Hedwig brings theater alive with the pounding sounds of rock 'n' roll and the funny sad voicing of a painful past…It is also an adult, thought-provoking musical about the quest for individuality."—Peter Marks, The New York Times

"Sublimely trashy and surprisingly powerful."—Los Angeles Times

"The most exciting rock score written for the theater since, oh, ever!"—Time

"If the glam-rock era is long gone, Hedwig reminds us, its subversive spirit, which has percolated under the surface of rock culture for more than two decades, lives on."—Stephen Holden, The New York Times

An original rock musical…with ferocious energy and with enough sexual variety to match late Fellini!"—Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

"In the whole long, sorry history of rock musicals, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is the first one that truly rocks."—Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

"Foulmouthed, electrically tuneful, and furiously funny…an unqualified pleasure."—Ben Brantley, The New York Times
