Product Description

Two wittily brilliant new plays by the funniest writer for the stage in the United States today, Ben Brantley, The New York Times

A long-running hit off-Broadway, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told presents scenes from the Bible from a flamboyantly gay perspective, beginning with Adam and Steve in the Garden of Eden; after being banished from Eden, they encounter Jane and Mabel, who insist that they were the earth s original couple. Together, the quartet survives the centuries, including time on the Ark during the Flood years, slavery in an Egypt ruled by a supremely effete Pharaoh, and life in contemporary New York. Also included in this volume is Rudnick s one-act play Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm Beach, which Peter Marks of the New York Times called A hilarious new theater piece . . . A palate-cleansing refreshment served up by a humorist whose way with a one-liner involves pin-point accuracy.

A Main Selection of the Stage and Screen Book Club

Fabulous and funny . . . You will find yourself laughing uncontrollably throughout the evening. New York Daily News

Rudnick s new comedy is the ultimate sugar-free Christmas dessert: If any of its varied flavors happens to stick in your craw, there s a punch bowl full of laughs to wash it down. The Village Voice

He is the author of two novels, Social Disease and I ll Take It, and his screenplays include Addams Family Values, In and Out, and the movie adaptation of Jeffrey. He lives in New York City.
